We train dogs using science based training methods that are Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA) as well as follow the Humane Hierarchy set out by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants.  This means that we will not coerce, force, dominate or intimidate your dog into compliance. We also do not use pain to teach skills or prevent unwanted behavior. Our goal is to help you build a better relationship with your dog, not create a robot.  As a Certified Family Dog Mediator and Lisa aims to find understanding between you and your dog to create a more peaceful living environment for both dogs and humans.

We work to continually expand our knowledge about the ways dogs learn and the most effective way to train them and their people. Our training programs aim to find the simplest and easiest solutions for you and your pet, teach cues and new behaviors, management skills for humans, and include enrichment and exercise to make sure that every part of the dog is being fulfilled. We want training to be fun so that you and your dog see results and are motivated to continue.

Yes! All dogs must be up to date on age appropriate vaccinations. If you are participating in a puppy program, we understand that all vaccinations will not be completed when you start. During a puppy program, we will ask that you provide updated vaccination records as the pup receives them. Our locality requires that all dogs over the age of 4 months be up to date on Rabies.  All adult dogs must also be up to date on the parvo/distemper series in addition to the rabies vaccine. We highly recommend the Kennel Cough vaccine if participating in group classes.

In order for us to best serve all of our clients, we have updated our cancellation policy.

We understand that emergencies may come up with work or family obligations and we ask that you notify us as soon as possible if you need to cancel your lesson. Lessons canceled with 24 hours or less advanced notice may be subject to a full price cancellation fee at the discretion of the instructor.

When an appointment is not canceled with adequate notice, you may be preventing another family from receiving training. Conversely, the situation may arise where another client fails to cancel with timely notice and we are unable to schedule you or accommodate a reschedule request due to a seemingly “full” schedule. Cancellations due to severe weather are not included.

We accept cash, check, paypal and credit cards.

We love when kids want to be involved in training. Training the dog is a family affair, so making sure everyone is on board with the lessons is crucial. We do ask that children who want to participate in lessons are 12 or older. There will be times when we can involve kids younger than 12, but for safety and efficiency, kids under the age of 12 will need to be supervised by another parent to ensure the lesson goes as planned.

Dog training is a commitment. To see the desired results, we expect you to do your homework daily and make the necessary lifestyle or management changes recommended by the instructor (ie: exercising the dog, enrichment, etc…). Generally, 10 minutes a day of homework is enough to start to see results when paired with other lifestyle and management changes. If your dog requires more frequent, focused work, the instructor will let you know. Success looks different for each dog.

Reasonable accommodations will be made during periods of inclimate weather (rain, high winds, dust storms, extreme heat, extreme cold, etc..) to ensure dog and human safety and comfort. You will be notified of any changes via text message. Lessons may be rescheduled for a different time or done virtually when possible.
